The other night frost threatened but didn’t show up. In the morning I hung the dew wet garden cloth on the line and went in to fix breakfast. Looking out the kitchen window I was captivated by the show of color and light, of warm pink and yellow shadow and cool grey-blue and sage green shadow, of abstract shade patterns turning to leafy shadow shapes, only to disappear and re-form as the cool early breeze played with the billowing cloth. The wind played peep show for me as the sheet blew upwards, revealing a wide band of electric blue forget me nots against a dark shadow of underbrush, again and again, just for my entertainment it seemed. I took way too many pictures, maybe, and spent way too much time enjoying the beauty, maybe.. There’s a watercolor painting to come out of this someday. I can almost see the colors.
