Its a strange concept really, the idea that we can own a designated piece of the earth. That we can take a stick and draw a line around said piece, (depending on how much money we care to spend ) and do whatever we like to it. Our lifetime is a speck in the now yet we can destroy a giant redwood that belongs to a past and future of 2000 years and more. Mother nature must shudder as we carve her up and transform her for better or for worse. Generations come and go and the lines are constantly re-drawn. Paradise becomes the paved parking lot, aging hippies plant their milkweed , memories of orange flitting by, fingers in the dam, holding back the grieving to come. I’m of that senior group now, hunched in the dirt that sustains us all, planting seeds for the beauty to come, making compost, doing what we can to feed and nurture whatever piece of mother nature we can draw a line around.

Glad to see the goddess survived the trip with only a minor injury. Hope you are very happy in your new digs. We will miss seeing you at Quaco this summer.
