Two Crows Gallery

Original paintings, prints, pen & inks, garden and driftwood sculptures,
Kathi’s children’s book, and for the sweet tooth, organic jams and honey.

Who Are We?

The Two Old Crows who draw and paint at 57 Benson Ave, Bear River, NS are Kathi Dunphy and Jim Walsh. Between them, they do watercolor, acrylic, oil, pen & ink, and some mad sculptures. They enjoy exploring new places and cultures, (here they are being tourists larking about in Old Havana). Kathi is an obsessive gardener who loves a landscaping challenge while Jim loves sharing and hearing a good story.

The Thoughts

Welcome to our blog!
  • Rooted

We are indeed home. It’s been a year and 10 months for us here on our Bear River property and we are happily out the other end of the chaos of building renovations and major changes to the land. (for now anyway). Year two in the garden has brought more raised bed construction so that…

  • The Way of Willow

In early May we gathered bare willow sticks from rural roadsides, still dormant, but full of growing potential. • Coming Home to Nova Scotia

Perhaps some of the most elusive states of being in old age are feelings of belonging, of purpose, challenge, and the excitement of a new day laid out ahead. A big part of finding our way as seniors in our adopted community is our ever expanding network of skilled and creative people who buoy us…

  • Doing our little bit..

Its a strange concept really, the idea that we can own a designated piece of the earth. That we can take a stick and draw a line around said piece, (depending on how much money we care to spend ) and do whatever we like to it. Our lifetime is a speck in the now…

  • Upcycling a Nuisance

When we first came here I was hobbling around on crutches fresh from surgery for a broken ankle, so I wasn’t too thrilled to find the woods filled with hidden trip hazards in the form of layers of ground ivy vines and another invasive form of vegetative tree snake looking creature that had squeezed the…
